MJ style

I feel like homemade sandwiches are so underrated these days, they’re so good, no pun intended–health and taste wise! 🙂They’re best when you have really soft bread and ingredients complement each other so well. So, this afternoon I decided to make mine Michael Jackson style! I’ve never had a peanut butter and banana creme reese cup, sorry MJ, but I’m always down for a peanut butter and banana sandwich!

I decided I wanted to make an open sammie today. I think open sammie’s are better because you can savor all of the flavors of the sandwich!
Today’s salad had strawberries and grapes drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette! Yummy, I think It was a successful lunch.  Why do you think peanut butter and bananas are good for you?

Well if you ask me, I’ll share the benefits of each with ya!
Benefits of peanut butter:
-peanut butter contains large amounts of dietary fiber (8%)–fiber helps the process of controlling blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
-Peanut butter has high amounts of protein (24%). See protein
-Peanut butter also contains antioxidants that help prevent oxidative damage caused by free radicals that can cause cancer. See antioxidants.
-Although peanut butter is high in fats, peanut butter contains high amounts of resveratrol in it. This nutrient is  known to increase blood flow to the brain, reducing the risk of strokes.
-The Monosaturated fat in peanut butter is seen to lower heart disease as much as 21%.
-In various amounts, any type of PB will have niacin, vitamin E, calcium, copper, potassium, iron, and magnesium!

Benefits of Bananas:

-One banana has 11% of the necessary dietary fiber needed for the day.
-Bananas are high in potassium, potassium helps lower blood pressure and it keeps bones strong because it helps calcium be absorbed in one’s body when it neutralizes sodium in one’s diet. (See Calcium)
-Bananas also act as an anti-inflammatory agent that ward off cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes and B6 plays an important part in cell formation and proper nervous system function.
