I really wanted a chocolate protein shake this afternoon. But here was the problem, I only had vanilla almond milk to mix my shake with, so I headed to the store! Walking down the row of different milks, I found an unsweetened chocolate drink that was approved by my fooducate app. (see below on the right) With this awesome chocolate flavored drink, my shake was definitely on point, nutrition and taste wise. Have you heard of fooducate? Well if you’re on a diet, interested in nutrition, love to learn about what you eat, or just looking to find something new, check out fooducate!
When I’m at the store, I love looking for new products to incorporate in my diet. If I haven’t heard of a product before, I like to find out if people like it and other times I’m interested in what is actually in it; so I use my nifty app on my iPhone called “fooducate!” Fooducate tells me if the product is genetically modified, if others like it, the nutrition, and alternatives for the current product I pick. All you have to do is scan the bar code or search on fooducate’s data base. I find it so cool because fooducate helps me choose healthy/new products. If my current product isn’t that great, I can always find an alternative that is better on fooducate!
Fooducate is great for people who want to find products to get at the store, browse for healthier options, are on a diet, or are just interested in food. The comments provided by other fooducate users are helpful for determining if I should really get a certain product…I don’t want to get something that tastes bad! 🙂
check out what this application is like here: http://www.fooducate.com/
This is such a smart app! I’ve always wanted a database like this, thanks for the info 🙂 I’m gonna go search for it immediately. and thanks for liking my post! Your blog is awesome!
You’re welcome! And thank you, I’m glad I could help you out:) have a good weekend!
So, did you try the chocolate almond milk without anything in it? I tried the Silk version and it tasted like I remember “Yoo-Hoo” tasting when I was a kid, but better! However, I just discovered through the Fooducate me app, that the Silk version is graded “C” due to a high sugar content. (Makes sense!) I’ll have to check out the Almond Breeze option.
I can tell that I’ll be having fun with Fooducate! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and giving me a chance to discover yours. I look forward to reading more from you and – hopefully – seeing your dreams of becoming a health coach realized!
Normally, I usually use the different flavored milks to mix with protein shakes in the morning or after my workouts. Almond breeze – unsweetened chocolate milk does not contain any sugars, so it’s not as sweet. I really like it, but I really think its based on personal preference. The protein shakes I have tend to be sweet even though they contain few grams of sugar. Recently, I’ve tried the vi-shake/shape powder that my mom uses for breakfast with the chocolate almond breeze and it tastes like a desert(vi shake powder is a cake batter tasting product with great nutrition), even though it’s healthy! I really appreciate your support and comment, I also love yours and your blogging about you fitness journey. It’s really inspiring! 🙂
Hey love what you have started on your blog. I think so many people can benefit from not only your experience but your attitude and zeal for sharing and educating on topics that are SOOOO important! So keep it up!
I saw you are mixing your shakes with something other than water. I have an awesome suggestion based on products I have tried (and being a former athelete have tried everything). Comes in both Chocolate and vanilla and is fantastic – not too sweet, jam packed with all vital nutrients and nothing EXTRA is added except for purified water. Let me know if you want more I can send you a link to have a look.
This is a great blog, Nicole! Great job! I’ll be following along!
Kim kim! You’re such a sweet heart! Thank you for your sweet words, I miss you!

Thanx for stopping by and liking my blog Devotions for Dieters–
I am always so excited to see young people paying attetion to their health. I work in a hospital and will say with confidence, that 90% of the people I see have medical problems relating to a lifetime of poor dietary habits – all preventable!!
So good for you. keep educating your peers so they can enjoy full, healthy lives well into their senior years.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and your kind words. It just takes a little bit of discipline to start a healthy life style, but it’s most definitely worth it 🙂

Just a tip, look into the Almond Breeze original vanilla flavour, it’s sugar free unlike most of their flavors, if memory serves me correctly. It’s what I have in the fridge right now.
Ooh! I just heard about Fooducate somewhere else but couldn’t remember the name! Thanks for the tips! Thank you also for liking my post 🙂
