I used to post frequently before spring break, but things started getting too busy to keep an updated blog. However, now that it’s summer time I hope to squeeze in more posts on healthy ideas and thoughts! This summer I have started taking Cross-fit classes because I found an awesome coupon online earlier this year. I was skeptical to try it at first because i didn’t know if it would challenge me enough to get my money’s worth. However, I am so excited to say that I am more than pleased to have started and hope to do this for a long time. I’ve heard of cross-fit before and think that I sometimes do workouts similar to this, but a class environment is definitely a different feel. I have discovered that I love doing this class because:
-I push my limits further than I would on my own
-the workout is typically a half hour or less
-the coaches are encouraging and knowledgeable and great
-the people who take the class are motivating and awesome
-the workouts cover all of the muscles and are different each day
-I sweat like crazy in the short amount of time
-I feel stronger and I can tell my endurance has improved
in the short amount of time that I’ve been doing the class.
-it’s so much fun!
I admit that my first class, the introduction class, scared me to death. It was the first time in a long time that I have literally felt out of breath with my heart sky rocketing. It was a 10 to 1 workout, this means you do each exercise 10x then the next round 9x then the next round 8x all the way until you get to 1 time on your last set. Following that we had to push weight sleds….when I thought the workout was over! Safe to say one of the hardest workouts and I will post them later on here. I’ve been to the cross-fit class about 10 times since the first day, and I’m not so afraid to go anymore. I know that the workout will kick my butt each time. I have a love/hate relationship with the workout, I hate it so much sometimes because it’s so hard, but I love it so much because I know I’m getting better and it pushes me harder than I would on my own. I also know that a thirty minute intense workout will rock my metabolism all day so I won’t feel too guilty while eating frozen yogurt and ice cream everyday in the summer…almost 🙂 darn sweets kill my will power!
I definitely would encourage looking for a gym that offers this class to try cross-fit out, for fitness and health enthusiasts, you will not be disappointed!
Anyways, look forward to seeing awesome workouts and nutrition information and healthy summer ideas on here this summer- as I have come across my brother’s recent textbook from nutrition class. I absolutely love reading about nutrition and it will give me something to do during my summer nannying job while the kids sleep 😉
Hey Nicole! I hear you with keeping up on blog posts – it takes a lot of time! This is a great post, and I look forward to reading more of what you post this summer. Celeste 🙂
I’d love to give CrossFit a try, but my schedule right now just doesn’t work. Not to mention it’s ridiculously expensive. Hopefully in the next year or so I can try it out!

I am dying to try a Crossfit class but am already a member of a gym and don’t want to pay extra money to go somewhere else – you know? It sounds amazing though! My endurance could really use an intense workout challenge 🙂
