2016: Big Decisions & Many Memories

The end of the year brings back many memories and lots of inspiration for the New Year. It’s safe to say that 2016 has been the most pivotal year in my life so far. I had amazing experiences, made big decisions and have an exciting future to plan for in 2017. If you have been following my blog for a while, you probably have seen some of my big events, but I thought I would do a month-by-month memory post to wrap it all up!

January 2016: My dad and I went to Chicago at the end screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-11-42-00-amof my winter break, it was a crazy winter storm day and it took almost five hours to get to our hotel. It usually takes just about three hours to get there. We got to see Carol King and shop on the streets of Massachusetts Avenue. It was quite cold, but we were able to enjoy our time and went to really nice dinners while being there. And of course, we had to stop at Garrett’s popcorn and I probably finished half of the big bag on the drive back.

February 2016: Before we got to college, Adam and I would screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-11-44-55-amspend Valentine’s day in and make a huge heart shaped pizza.
This Valentine’s Day we went to Weber Grill downtown Indy, and it has easily become one of our favorite restaurants. It was a freezing night; thankfully the restaurant was just a few steps from the parking garage. If you know me, I absolutely love date night—it’s a time to come together after a busy week and enjoy each other’s presence and conversation. Often times, it takes us an hour or more to just put in our order because we get so caught up in conversation and laughs, but that’s my favorite part (: #SorrytoWaitersWhoHaveUs

March 2016: March was a blast! I finally turned 21 and
Adam took me out to our favorite restaurant in bloomington, Uptown Café. We went to the Bluebird after to enjoy live music.
–>Spring Break was a week later and we road tripped to Orlando, Florida with a few of our friends. We had so much fun together, went to Cocoa Beach for a day and a few bars downtown Universal. Couldn’t have asked for a more easy going group to share memories with.

April 2016:
This month was a time for wrapping up school and enjoying time with friends before we parted ways for the summer. The little 5 week was filled with fun and friends in the warmer weather, finally! I’ve yet to go to the actual bike race, so maybe I’ll make 2017 the year to cross that off my list.

May 2016: Mom and I took a girls trip to Florida at our favorite resort, Orange Lake. We spent the days relaxing pool-side, enjoying dinners, adventures, and downtown Disney. My favorite was going to Sea World, loved seeing the whales! Before I got to college, mom and I would do a girls trip every year. I value that sweet time with her because she’s the best…plus she spoils me way more than I deserve 😉 #ButDontStop #LoveFamilyTime

June 2016: I started my first internship at Cook Pharmica as a project management intern and I absolutely loved it. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I had an amazing screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-11-43-31-amexperience working with incredibly smart individuals and interns. The intern group made the time at work even better because we all had a blast together. Read more about my experience here.
–>Adam D and I went to see Keith Urban in concert together at Klipsch Venue in Noblesville, Indiana. It was so much fun, Keith is definitely one of our favorite artists! He puts on a great show and always comes out to the lawn stage for the audience.
–>Mom & I ran our first 5k bubble run together at the state fair grounds! She’s been doing great on her fitness journey and has come so far. I love being able to do different fitness events together and see her progress!

July 2016:  Adam D. turned 22 and I took him out to a new restaurant in Zionsville, Indiana called The Loft at Traders Point. I thought it was an adorable atmosphere in a screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-11-44-24-ammodern barn setting with little lights all around us. All of the food is local and fresh, so it was a nice change up for us.
–>My best friend, Nicole, turned 21 this month and she came to Indianapolis from Chicago to celebrate. Shout out to Adam daniel for picking her from the airport (: We enjoyed a night out in Broad Ripple together and hanging out with friends!

August 2016: I moved into my apartment for my senior year. Since the beginning of the year has less going on, we were able to go out more this month and take advantage of the cheap college-priced drinks at the local bars. We also ending up going bowling every Wednesday with friends this month!

September 2016:Everything started picking up for job recruitment events, career fairs and interviews. I’m not going to lie, it was definitely one of the most stressful times of my life. I IMG_5288experienced many up and downs, but had amazing support from my family, best friends, and my boyfriend who took me to many of the job interviews and open houses. I spent hours everyday preparing for interviews, doing company research, and wearing business professional almost everyday of the week!
–>Adam declined a full time offer with Cummins in Indianapolis and is taking the plunge into grad school for a 1-year masters program in Information Systems. I am so proud of him and very excited for what opportunities open for him.

October 2016: I shot for a more balanced month between school, job recruitment, and social activities to relieve my stress from the past month. It was a big time for tailgates where family came to visit and hanging out in the fields on the weekends with yummy snacks and food!
–>October 18th, 2016: I received my job offer from my dream company and couldn’t be more ecstatic. I will start working in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 19th, 2017 for my 1-2 year rotation program at Abbott Laboratories/Abbott Nutrition. Read more about my offer here.

November 2016: I took many of my friends to one of my favorite places, Happy Hollow for camping. We stayed the night hanging out in Brown County, listening to music, walking around and even stargazed! (somehow the group saw three shooting stars and i missed them all!!)

–>My best friend, Leanne and I went to Nashville, Indiana to shop around and indulge in sweet treats. It was only 25 minutes from Bloomington and we will definitely visit again. I also did my first wine tasting with her at a local winery. I found my taste for Chardonnay there and had a happy belly by the time we went home!screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-12-35-52-pm
–>Adam D and I went to Musgrave Orchard and picked some yummy apples. While we walked around the orchard, we couldn’t find any of the apples on the trees which we thought was odd…but we still had a great time together!

December 2016:
screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-12-41-47-pm–>Adam D and I have been able to spend lots of quality time over winter break together and celebrated Christmas with family. Adam is one of the most adorable Uncles and he has the sweetest relationship with his nieces…it makes my heart so warm.
–>Leanne and I finally completed our Body By Hoosiers 8 week challenge program and are ecstatic for it to start in January 2017. –>I was able to see a few friends from my hometown that I haven’t been with for a while and it was fun to catch up and hear about each other’s lives.

December 31st//NYE: Adam Daniel and I are actually planning a night in this New
Years Eve making a dinner together. We have still yet to decide what we are going to make, but he has stated we can’t make “chicken, veggies, and potatoes” tonight. Hahaha…which is what I always make us when we do dinner together. But hey I always have fresh bread and Cinnamon butter!! So if you have any suggestions, please do share because I won’t be grocery shopping for a few hours.screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-11-55-48-am
